MUST BE UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL PAPER. DON’T COPY FROM OTHERS! NO PLAGIARISM OR COUNTERFEITS ALLOWED!
Applications to colleges and universities are increasing every year, but the process of getting into a school is not easy. The essay that a student writes can be the most important determining factor in whether or not he or she gets accepted into a program. A great college admissions essay can make your application stand out from all of the rest. The following tips will help you take your application essays from good to great:
Research Your Field – Before you sit down to write, make sure you know what the school that you’re applying to is like and how it works. For example, if you’re applying for a chemistry program, make sure you know what classes they offer and what research opportunities are available. This will help give your essay perspective.
Passion – Colleges want students who are passionate about learning and their future fields of study so be sure to present this in your essays. Be specific but not specific enough where it sounds rehearsed or rote learned!
Anecdotes – Just like with any writing, college applications essays should include anecdotes whenever possible to help drive home points and add an emotional appeal that might otherwise go unnoted. You’ll remember how exciting it was when you got accepted into your dream school because of a great essay!
Give Specific Instructions – It’s a good idea to give specific instructions in any form of writing. The more specificity the better when it comes to getting results. For example, if you have a question on your application where you don’t come right out and ask “do they offer classes or research opportunities in my field,” then add that information into your essay instead. In other words, be very clear about what you want from this school so that when your paper is read they know exactly what you’re looking for.
What Makes You Unique? – Everyone has something unique to offer especially when applying for college or even scholarship money. Discover what makes you unique apart from all of the other candidates who are applying- whether it be because you are an international student or because you have some unique hobbies or talents that aren’t commonly seen in your area. Don’t be afraid to brag about yourself a little- after all, you deserve it!
Presentation – After everything is said and done, make sure that your essay looks great on paper. Pay close attention to grammar and formatting so that your essay will stand out from the rest before sending it off to get read. Follow all of the directions given by the school for submitting information on their website. If they ask for a certain type of paper then do not submit something different thinking that they’ll just take what you give them regardless. Be respectful of their time and efforts with this process too!
Make Sure It’s Good – The most important thing that you need to keep in mind when applying for college is making sure that your essay is good. A strong, well written essay can greatly increase your chances of getting into a school so don’t blow it by writing something hastily and without putting much thought into it. Make sure that you proofread and edit carefully for grammar and spelling mistakes- even the smallest error could be the difference between acceptance and denial!
Time It Well – Time yourself when you sit down to write an essay so that you don’t rush through it. If possible, try taking a break every once in awhile just to stretch your legs or eat some food! You can get dehydrated while working on essays all day long so take care of yourself while pushing forward!
Review – After you’ve written your essay and proofread it multiple times, it’s a good idea to let friends and family read through it too. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own work that we can’t see the errors or incomplete sentences for what they really are which means that others will be able to catch them much more quickly than we would on our own. Don’t wait until the last minute either because essays due soon require special attention!
Remember All of These Tips – If you remember all of these tips then your college application essay should go swimmingly well. You don’t have to do everything on this list but just by following some of them you’ll already stand out from other applicants who didn’t put as much effort into their essays. So good luck and happy writing!
